About the role
- NPI Test Engineer developing automated manufacturing tests for Ciena’s high-speed networking infrastructure. Enabling product quality, scalability, and production readiness.
Responsibilities
- Define and develop test strategies, test process flows, test sequences, test stations, and associated test fixtures
- Provide input and guidance on design for manufacturability (DFM), design for testability (DFT), and scalability
- Create and maintain test specifications (XS) and debugging aids
- Develop and validate automated test sequences
- Lead efforts to resolve technical issues
- Deliver training to contract manufacturer production teams on new products, processes, equipment, and tools
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the NPI process and reduce time-to-market for new products
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality, scalability, and manufacturing efficiency
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 3+ years of experience in NPI Test Engineering, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, hardware (electronics), and software
- Strong knowledge of programming languages such as Python, C, and C#
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, assembly techniques, and quality standards
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to travel
- Experience with Altium development tools is a nice-to-have
- Team-oriented, organized, self-motivated, and capable of independent work
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
