About the role

  • Mixed-signal ASIC designer sustaining and developing high-speed optical transceivers at Cisco. Designing CMOS ICs, diagnosing lab issues, and collaborating across hardware teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support circuit-design issues found in the lab or by customers
  • Analyze lab data and identify probable circuits involved
  • Run post-layout circuit simulations in Cadence
  • Correlate observed issues and determine root causes
  • Use lab equipment such as DCA and spectrum analyzers
  • Use Python scripts
  • Design, lay out, measure, and productize ultra-deep-submicron CMOS products
  • Participate in peer reviews of complex IC designs
  • Provide design methodology from conception through production
  • Collaborate with Testing, ATE, reliability, packaging, and hardware design teams
  • Identify, design, and implement power and signaling solutions

Requirements

  • BSEE degree with 8+ years of experience or equivalent, or an MS degree with 7+ years of experience or equivalent, or a PhD with 1+ years of experience or equivalent
  • Design, simulation and measurement of high-speed ICs experience in at least 3 listed areas
  • Experience with high-speed serial links, serializers, deserializers, data converters, voltage regulators, output drivers, phase-locked loops, clock transmission/propagation, opamps, programmable gain amplifiers, or equalization
  • Experience with electrical transceiver applications including backplane and cable communications preferred
  • Experience with FinFET technology preferred
  • High-frequency layout experience preferred, including inductors, transformers, and transmission lines
  • Floorplanning experience preferred
  • Custom transistor layout experience preferred
  • Experience designing for manufacturability preferred
  • Experience with ESD laboratory practices and methodology preferred
  • Experience with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, Matlab, and EMX preferred
  • Experience with mixed-signal simulations in AMS preferred
