About the role
- QA Software Developer Co-op building Python-based automated tests for Cisco networking and security platforms. Integrating test suites into CI/CD pipelines and analyzing defects.
Responsibilities
- Assist in designing, developing, and executing automated test frameworks
- Validate the functionality, performance, and security of Cisco platforms
- Write, debug, and maintain automated Python test scripts
- Increase regression testing coverage and catch software defects early
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins and GitHub Actions
- Utilize developer tools and Linux environments
- Use AI-assisted automation to analyze test results and identify root causes of system bugs
- Learn practical software testing methodologies
- Deliver reliable automation code and contribute to high-quality releases across Cisco’s global infrastructure
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program (Associate's or Bachelor's) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
- Expectation to continue enrollment following completion of the co-op work term
- Foundational programming and scripting skills in Python, Java, or C/C++
- Coursework or practical experience writing and debugging code
- Familiarity with software quality assurance concepts and basic testing methodologies
- Familiarity with Linux command-line environments and Git version control
- Familiarity with CI/CD automation concepts, such as Jenkins and GitHub Actions
- Understanding of software development lifecycles
- Hands-on experience or coursework with automated test frameworks such as pytest, unittest, or Selenium
- Basic understanding of networking protocols, TCP/IP, routing/switching, or cloud security principles
- Exposure to containerization basics such as Docker or AI/ML developer tools
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills, curiosity to learn new technologies, and enthusiasm for team collaboration
