About the role
- Cisco Solutions Engineer designing secure, scalable architectures for Canadian federal government customers. Leading pre-sales discovery, technical presentations, proposals, demonstrations, and technology roadmaps.
Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to Canadian public sector customers
- Partner with Account Executives and cross-functional teams throughout the pre-sales cycle
- Lead discovery, solution design, customer presentations, proposal development, demonstrations, and proof-of-concept activities
- Uncover mission-critical challenges, technical requirements, constraints, and desired outcomes
- Translate customer insights into architectures addressing regulatory, security, and operational requirements
- Develop, document, and present technology roadmaps
- Maintain knowledge of Cisco technologies, industry trends, emerging capabilities, and AI infrastructure
- Communicate technology relevance and business value to technical teams, business stakeholders, and executives
- Architect secure, resilient, scalable, and operationally practical solutions using Cisco’s portfolio and partner ecosystem
- Translate technical considerations into recommendations, architectural trade-offs, and business value
- Help stakeholders make informed technology decisions and build confidence in proposed solutions
Requirements
- Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in systems architecture, solution design, systems engineering, technical consulting, delivery, or implementation within enterprise environments
- Completion of at least 3 large-scale, end-to-end solution architectures, implementations, or delivery leadership projects within enterprise, critical infrastructure, public sector, or regulated environments
- Documented technical competency in at least two of: networking, security, data centre, collaboration, or observability
- Experience delivering a minimum of 5 technical presentations or architecture reviews
- Experience producing written technical documentation, including customer requirements analyses, solution architecture diagrams, and actionable implementation roadmaps
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, or a minimum of 14 years of combined education, formal certifications, technical training, and practical work experience
- Current residency in the National Capital Region
- Availability to fulfill hybrid office, customer-site, and travel requirements
- Preferred: 4+ years serving Canadian Public Sector accounts
- Preferred: active industry-recognized certification such as CCIE, CCNP, or CISSP
- Preferred: 3+ years of Cisco enterprise networking, security, or data centre configuration or architecture experience
- Preferred: experience with an AI infrastructure, AI workloads, or secure hybrid/cloud-connected solution project
- Preferred: 2+ years of direct pre-sales or technical advocacy experience
- Preferred: 2 formal technology roadmaps or strategic architectural decision documents
- Preferred: active Government of Canada Level II (Secret) or Level III (Top Secret) security clearance
- Preferred: verified bilingual proficiency in English and French
