About the role

  • Project Coordinator Intern supporting Clark Builders’ major Red Deer Regional Hospital construction project. Assisting Operations teams with scheduling, documentation, coordination, and site activities.

Responsibilities

  • Support project start-up activities, including tendering and bid evaluations, subcontractor kickoffs, utility and site service applications, permitting, stakeholder communication, quantity take-offs, and project scheduling
  • Support project execution and document control activities, including RFIs, SIs, Submittals, CRXs, and COs
  • Support implementation and maintenance of the project QA/QC plan
  • Facilitate, record, and distribute meeting minutes and follow up on action items and commitments
  • Monitor and coordinate trade scopes of work, including tracking productivity, progress, and performance
  • Assist with on-site problem solving and support the RFI process
  • Gain exposure to and support basic project accounting activities
  • Support strong relationships with trade partners, consultants, clients, and other project stakeholders
  • Participate in project planning, coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support Project Managers and Superintendents across all aspects of the construction process
  • Help ensure project milestones and deadlines are achieved

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field
  • Interest in construction, project coordination, and working in a field/site environment
  • Previous construction, project coordination, or related work experience is considered an asset but is not required
  • Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills, with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges
  • Familiarity with construction software, processes, or project management tools is considered an asset; prior experience is not required
  • Must be willing and able to work full-time in Red Deer, Alberta for the duration of the work term
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage deadline-driven tasks in a fast-paced construction setting
  • Understanding of Lean thinking, collaborative planning, and continuous improvement principles
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and construction documents
  • Ability to adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
