About the role

  • Bilingual Senior Funding Officer coordinating loan closings and ensuring compliance in commercial mortgages. Mentor to Funding Officers and collaborator with credit risk management in Toronto.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate loan closing by instructing solicitor and external property insurance consultant, ensuring all requirements are met, including commitment changes being addressed and deposits received
  • Liaise with solicitors, originators, and CMLS Credit Risk Management, to ensure all supporting documents and funding conditions are received and satisfied prior to advancing funds
  • Review corporate structure and documentation to ensure compliance with FINTRAC legislation
  • Coordinate closings with investors, ensuring all investor requirements are met and investor approvals are received
  • Coordinate locking of the interest rate, ensuring all pre-rate lock conditions are satisfied and investor requirements regarding timing of rate lock are met
  • Calculate interest adjustments, tax holdbacks and monthly tax components
  • Arrange advance approval by senior management prior to requesting funds from the investor and instructing legal counsel regarding the advance
  • Ensure accurate information is provided to the CMLS servicing department for set up of all loan details in the commercial loans management system
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures including legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements
  • Review corporate structure and documentation to ensure compliance with FINTRAC legislation
  • Act as mentor for Funding Officers
  • Assist with training of new hires
  • Complete file audits for teammates

Requirements

  • Bilingualism in French and English
  • At least 4 years of experience in commercial mortgage funding, including complex loan structures
  • A detail-oriented, results-driven approach
  • Completed either an undergraduate degree or have other post-secondary education
  • Experience in the commercial mortgage industry, preferably in mortgage funding
  • Possess strong organizational skills
  • Able to prioritize, multi-task and adapt to a variety of responsibilities
  • Take ownership of your work and demonstrate a high degree of accountability and commitment at all times
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work well independently as well as within a team environment.
