About the role

  • Accounting Supervisor leading energy accounting and financial reporting for Federated Co-operatives Limited. Improving JD Edwards processes, supporting audits, and guiding a five-person team through change.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of five employees by assigning and reviewing work, supporting development, managing performance, and ensuring team priorities are achieved
  • Oversee key activities within the monthly and quarterly financial reporting process
  • Review team deliverables, prepare financial statements, and complete financial analysis and supporting documentation
  • Support external consolidation, audited financial statements, and external audit activities
  • Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes, systems, and practices, including JD Edwards and other Energy systems
  • Support system and technology changes by assessing impacts, recommending process updates, and helping stakeholders adopt new ways of working
  • Provide accounting guidance and collaborate with Finance partners and senior accounting team members to resolve issues and ensure accurate, timely results
  • Work closely with Corporate Accounting and Finance team members to support financial reporting, accounting processes, and system and organizational change

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Business Degree with a major in Accounting
  • Actively working towards a CPA designation
  • Previous supervisory experience is an asset
  • CPA designation is an asset
  • Ability to lead and supervise a team of five employees
  • Experience or ability to work with JD Edwards and other Energy systems
  • May be required to complete a criminal record check in accordance with FCL policies
