About the role

  • Mining project support manager overseeing Silvertip underground mine development for Coeur Mining. Coordinating governance, contractors, reviews, safety, schedule, budget, and operational readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee Project Support functions for the Silvertip Project and other Coeur business areas as a shared resource
  • Integrate the Silvertip project area and coordinate and integrate stage-gate processes
  • Coordinate, track, and follow up on internal and independent technical and operational project reviews
  • Coordinate peer reviews and disseminate findings to strengthen project leadership, governance, and delivery
  • Support delivery of the Silvertip project from front-end-loaded development through operation of a remote Northern British Columbia underground mine
  • Monitor work planning and performance of key Owner's team contractors providing project delivery support, construction management support, and pre-commissioning/commissioning services
  • Monitor project delivery against the approved business case, safety, schedule, budget, quality, organizational strategy, and capital objectives
  • Interface with operational readiness and site operations leadership
  • Engage executive and senior leadership on project delivery, governance, and performance
  • Coordinate with the Manager, Permitting on technical information supporting the permitting process
  • Support the Senior Vice President, Technical Services in strategic planning
  • Support the Senior Vice President, Operations – Canada with technical and governance matters for New Afton and Rainy River operations
  • Provide project safety and leadership, integration control and oversight, contractor work-planning and performance monitoring, stage-gate coordination, critical-review coordination, stakeholder and interface coordination, operational-review support, and SME oversight
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to meet operational needs

Requirements

  • B.S. Engineering or Geology
  • Professional designation (e.g. P.Eng) and/or PMP certification
  • Minimum of 15 progressive years of experience in major mining or heavy industrial projects
  • Significant technical leadership and coordination experience over large capital projects
  • Broad knowledge of underground mine development, mineral processing plants, and mining infrastructure from studies through start-up
  • Knowledge of safety management, stage-gate processes, independent and peer reviews, and financial project reviews
  • Well-rounded technical knowledge of studies and engineering execution and delivery
  • Knowledge of project management, contractor performance management, engineering, project controls, construction, mine development, pre-commissioning, and commissioning processes and practices
  • Advanced communication skills
  • Ability to work in office and active project-site environments
  • Ability to travel occasionally to operating or construction sites
  • Ability to work extended periods sitting and using a computer, walk on uneven terrain, climb stairs or access elevated platforms
  • Ability to wear required PPE and work in varying weather, noise, dust, and industrial-site conditions
  • Commitment to health, safety, environmental standards, and compliance
