About the role

  • Technical Lead governing AI data readiness and API gateways at Coupa, whose platform helps businesses optimize total spend. Defining safeguards for GenAI applications, data quality, compliance, and observability.

Responsibilities

  • Own Coupa’s AI-readiness layer for data, including source-of-truth designations and data fitness decisions for AI use cases
  • Define and publish enterprise standards for AI-ready data assets
  • Extend the data catalog into an AI asset inventory and classify assets as AI-ready, AI-restricted, or AI-prohibited
  • Partner with Enterprise Data Management on data quality refreshes flowing into vector stores, RAG indexes, and prompt-time lookups
  • Connect governed metric definitions and lineage to AI consumers
  • Define AI-aware data quality monitoring requirements
  • Author and maintain Coupa’s AI data governance playbook and policies
  • Build and run intake and review for new AI use cases, targeting five-business-day turnaround
  • Translate GDPR, SOC 2, EU AI Act, and NIST AI RMF requirements into operational standards
  • Participate in AI Delivery & Execution planning, sprint reviews, and architecture discussions
  • Co-own the AI/API gateway strategy and define governance, outcomes, and observability requirements
  • Specify gateway controls for PII detection/redaction, prompt sanitization, content filtering, and prompt/response logging
  • Define gateway observability and reporting requirements, including usage, anomalies, costs, and SLAs
  • Pair with AI engineers on data sourcing and human-in-the-loop decisions
  • Jointly triage AI quality incidents across the gateway, RAG pipeline, and source records

Requirements

  • 8+ years of related experience
  • At least 5 years as a Data Product Manager, Technical Program Manager, or comparable role owning data products and driving cross-functional implementation
  • Track record shipping AI/ML solutions end-to-end in an enterprise environment
  • Working knowledge of prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), embeddings, and agent frameworks
  • Familiarity with hallucination, prompt injection, data leakage, and training-data contamination failure modes
  • Knowledge of data governance principles and frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK or DCAM
  • Hands-on experience with data quality standards, CDE frameworks, source-of-truth designations, or metadata/catalog programs
  • Familiarity with API governance platforms and gateway strategy
  • SQL fluency for profiling data quality against warehouse tables, such as Snowflake
  • Working familiarity with GDPR, CCPA, EU AI Act, and NIST AI RMF
  • Strong written communication for policies, playbooks, and decision memos
