About the role
- Senior Data Scientist building real-time courier pay and dynamic pricing models for Just Eat Takeaway.com. Optimizing marketplace efficiency and earnings fairness through machine learning and experimentation.
Responsibilities
- Design and deploy real-time courier pay and boost algorithms balancing supply with delivery demand
- Build constrained optimization and machine learning models to maximize spend efficiency and earnings fairness
- Lead causal inference and experimentation frameworks, including switchback and geo testing
- Partner with Product and Tech to translate marketplace goals into scalable, low-latency production services
- Monitor live model health, triage performance drift, and establish production fail-safes
- Mentor team peers through code reviews and technical guidance
Requirements
- Proven hands-on experience developing machine learning models, dynamic pricing algorithms, or constrained optimization systems
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
- Experience shipping reliable models into production environments
- Practical knowledge of causal inference and marketplace experimentation, including A/B and switchback test designs
- Commitment to designing fair and transparent algorithmic incentives
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Proven ability to leverage AI agents for data analysis, coding, code reviews, and technical workflows
- Experience deploying and maintaining low-latency, real-time streaming ML systems (preferred)
- Background in on-demand logistics, ride-hailing, food delivery marketplaces, or algorithmic revenue management (preferred)
- Familiarity with Kafka, Google BigQuery, AWS S3, DynamoDB, Kinesis, or modern ML tracking platforms (preferred)
- Experience with GPS traces, spatial indexing such as H3 or S2, and fine-grained time-series forecasting (preferred)
