About the role
- Advanced Engineering Manager leading high-voltage motor and inverter technology development. Guiding Dana’s e-Propulsion platforms from concept through testing and implementation.
Responsibilities
- Lead engineers and subject matter experts from initial concept through proof-of-concept testing and implementation on Dana’s e-Propulsion platforms
- Interface with product planning, sales, purchasing, and engineering organizations to align technology roadmaps
- Provide final engineering approval and guide technology concept selection toward proof-of-concept development
- Define and understand virtual and physical load cases supporting technology attribute targets
- Manage virtual engineering needs and CAE/CFD software for technology development
- Manage test-bench assets and test articles for technology data validation
- Plan and manage staff resources, capital, and operational budgets to deliver technologies on time
- Contribute to site management and collaborate with site managers on prototyping and test completion
- Manage grants, subsidies, and other funds supporting regional technology development projects
- Lead project timelines and communicate deliverables to upper management
- Manage engineering service providers, component suppliers, university projects, and collaborative partners
- Lead the engineering team according to Dana’s Technology Development Plan cadence and reporting structure
- Identify competitive benchmarking needs and partner with the benchmarking organization to collect data
- Report semi-monthly to executive leadership on technology development progress
- Champion symposium sessions and share learnings with cross-functional teams
- Attend and present at industry conferences on Dana’s behalf
- Manage intellectual property and promote IP protection and generation within the team
Requirements
- Master’s degree or PhD in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering (or related discipline)
- 10+ years experience in detailed design of high voltage electric traction motor and inverter components and sub-systems
- 3+ years experience directly managing a team of engineers
- 3+ years of program management experience balancing parallel, complex tasks
- Strong understanding of inverter and motor components, electromagnetics, and traction motor topologies
- Working level knowledge of subsystem/component manufacturing and assembly methods
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of deliverables and lead resolution of issues
- Ability to adapt to change and pivot project selection, scope, and timing according to business needs
- Must be self-directed, motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills for working professionally with people at all levels within and outside Dana
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to engage with cross-functional teams daily
- Ability to work on-site a minimum of four days per week
- Limited domestic and international travel
- Preference to communicate in both French and English
