About the role
- Programmer Analyst building and maintaining .NET software for ClaimsPro’s insurance claims operations. Remote role supporting business users across Canada.
Responsibilities
- Build, enhance, and maintain software systems supporting business divisions and clients
- Interact directly with users to determine and refine requirements
- Deliver solutions independently and in teams in alignment with best practices
- Develop new systems and features and maintain existing systems throughout the application lifecycle
- Work closely with IT Managers, IT peers, and Operational staff
- Deliver prompt and professional responses to user requests
- Build relationships with internal IT teams and business users
- Provide guidance to junior team members on advanced techniques and software design
- Execute assigned tasks effectively and on time
- Follow coding, testing, documentation, and deployment best practices
- Communicate task status clearly and frequently to IT and business management
- Document work orders with implementation and testing details
- Determine and document application requirements with end users
- Suggest technical solutions to business problems and opportunities
- Develop and execute test plans
- Implement requirements through existing application interfaces or custom enhancements
- Coordinate and execute data migration and integration initiatives
- Collaborate with programmers in a team environment
- Prioritize tasks and manage timelines and stakeholder expectations
- Participate in peer code reviews
- Prepare code for production deployment
- Document design and implementation details
- Keep abreast of new development tools and techniques
Requirements
- Minimum grade 12 education
- 4+ years of experience in an Application Development Role
- Consistent competency in all responsibilities associated with the Programmer Analyst I role
- Experience with .NET Framework (VB/C#)
- Experience with .NET Web Services (WebAPI)
- Experience with HTML, JavaScript, and jQuery
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server
- Experience with Git
- Strong communication skills and ability to discuss software requirements with business users using non-technical language
- Analytical thinking
- Ability to multi-task and handle a high volume of concurrent tasks
- Ability to learn new business and technical concepts
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external IT teams to achieve goals
- Occasional evening/weekend/overtime availability required to meet deadlines or deploy solutions
