About the role

  • Data Scientist at Desjardins, a financial services cooperative, developing advanced analytics, machine learning and AI models. Advising stakeholders and supporting data-driven business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee data mining, evaluation, feature engineering, quality inspection and adjustment of available data, and selection of predictors for complex predictive modeling mandates
  • Analyze client and partner business needs, generate hypotheses and lead mandates through operationalization and rollout
  • Apply advanced statistical, machine learning and artificial intelligence methods to develop and optimize models and segmentations
  • Create programming to prepare and mine data, and develop, evaluate, support, roll out and manage complex models
  • Prepare presentations and data visualizations to support business decisions and management consideration
  • Draft guidelines and data modelling methods, support documentation, and prepare and deliver training
  • Identify opportunities to improve rules and systems, anticipate impacts of changes and enhance data management tools
  • Advise stakeholders and decision-making bodies on data use, and act as a subject matter expert and coach
  • Interact with stakeholders across fields to understand issues, communicate findings and influence decision-making

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • A minimum of six years of relevant experience
  • Other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
  • Academic specialization in a quantitative field (e.g., Certificate, Master's degree, or PhD)
  • Knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec
  • Advanced proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients
  • Advanced statistical, machine learning and artificial intelligence knowledge
  • Data mining, feature engineering, quality inspection and predictor selection expertise
  • Programming skills for data preparation, mining and complex model development
  • Ability to prepare data visualizations and management presentations
  • Knowledge of data modelling methods, documentation and training delivery
