About the role

  • Senior Data Governance Advisor guiding secure, compliant data practices at Desjardins, North America's largest cooperative financial group. Leading governance standards, risk analysis and stakeholder advisory work.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement data management processes for optimal and secure use of data, considering compliance, privacy and security
  • Help teams recognize and manage data as a strategic asset
  • Lead stakeholders in developing practices adapted to diverse business needs and complex strategic data governance initiatives
  • Make recommendations about data use and compliance with governance documents
  • Serve as a specialist advisor and subject matter expert on data governance
  • Act as a resource person and coach for decision-making bodies
  • Interact with stakeholders across various fields to understand issues and influence decision making
  • Help data producers and users valorize data for the benefit of members and clients
  • Advise teams on developing and applying data management processes and controls
  • Develop, operationalize and improve data governance standards, processes, tools and best practices
  • Coordinate identification of sector data governance needs and opportunities
  • Analyze risks and gaps between governance documents and operational practices
  • Oversee development and implementation of compliance practices and mechanisms
  • Coordinate, monitor, measure and communicate performance of standards and practices, including data governance maturity changes
  • Lead projects related to data governance development

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • A minimum of six years of relevant experience
  • Other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
  • Knowledge of French is required
  • Expertise in data governance and data management processes
  • Knowledge of compliance, privacy and security requirements
  • Ability to advise and coach stakeholders and decision-making bodies
  • Ability to analyze risks and operational gaps
  • Strategic mindset and action orientation
