About the role

  • Senior HR Specialist supporting hiring, culture, compliance, and compensation at DistillerSR. Helping power an AI-enabled platform for critical health research.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end resourcing, including needs analysis, sourcing, attracting, screening, and onboarding talent
  • Build and maintain the talent pipeline
  • Act as campus/post-secondary liaison for co-op programs
  • Own the talent portion of employee onboarding
  • Handle employee questions, feedback, and concerns, escalating or investigating as needed
  • Support the Employee Experience & Culture Committee
  • Participate in the Joint Health & Safety Committee and Employee Social Committee
  • Champion AI-enabled talent tools and processes
  • Administer BambooHR and maintain employee records
  • Lead employee onboarding and offboarding processes and continuous improvement
  • Update and maintain HR policies and procedures for legislative compliance and best practices
  • Collaborate with Compliance and Finance/Payroll on audit and operational requirements
  • Monitor employment legislation, talent best practices, and industry trends
  • Provide talent guidance to employees and frontline people managers
  • Support performance management, training, and career development programs
  • Analyze HR data for decision-making and program improvement
  • Prepare internal HR communications for All Hands, board meetings, and other events
  • Conduct salary analysis and market analysis for recruitment, talent management, and annual compensation reviews

Requirements

  • College or University degree, preferably in Human Resources, Social Sciences or Business
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an HR role, preferably in a start-up/scale-up or fast-moving environment
  • Must be tech savvy, quick to learn new software
  • Exceptional communication skills – written, oral, presentation
  • Demonstrated success in building strong working relationships with diverse teams
  • Highly proficient in Google Suite and MS Office
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, able to prioritize and multi-task
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of Employment Standards Act, 2000 (ESA), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), and Human Rights Code
  • Completion of JHSC certification, or willingness to become certified
  • Experience with an HRIS system as a backend user/administrator
  • Experience supporting compensation processes, or willingness to learn
  • CHRP or in progress
