About the role
- Lead Rental Technician responsible for diagnostics and maintenance of large equipment at The Home Depot. Training associates and managing tool rentals in the Greater Toronto Area.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, inspect and repair gas/diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, fuel, and brake systems
- Complete safety campaigns, and PDI new and existing equipment
- Assess down tools, order parts, complete repairs, and update leadership on critical timelines
- Maintain GPS and track asset moves between locations and job sites
- Maintain accurate drivers log, inspections, and provincial transportation compliance
- Train and support rental associates and mobile service technicians on Large Equipment procedures and routine maintenance standards
- Act as the escalation contact and deliver job-site support within 24 hours
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years in heavy equipment, light industrial, or gas mechanical systems
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license, clean record, and tandem-axle towing experience
- Skilled in complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostics and repairs
- Able to read repair manuals, schematics, and parts guides
- Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, and diagnostic apps
- Must provide standard hand/trade tools
- Lift up to 50 lbs; bend, kneel, crawl, and climb onto equipment as needed
- Work outdoors in Canadian weather with exposure to noise, fumes, dirt, and grease
- Live within 25 km of the target location or be willing to commute
