About the role

  • Fundraising manager leading direct mail, tele-fundraising and community giving campaigns for MSF Canada’s emergency medical humanitarian mission. Managing agencies, budgets and a team of three.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and implement direct mail, face-to-face and tele-fundraising campaigns
  • Oversee the community giving portfolio, including third-party events and peer-to-peer fundraising
  • Lead a team of 3 direct reports and implement workplans to achieve goals
  • Provide creative guidance, project management and campaign support
  • Manage fundraising suppliers and agencies
  • Support integrated, multi-channel fundraising campaigns
  • Ensure fundraising activities follow MSF Canada brand guidelines and industry best practices
  • Identify opportunities to maximize revenue and return on investment across offline channels
  • Manage creative direction, scripting, copy development and external team training
  • Report on campaign revenue objectives, targets, ROI and key performance measurements; course correct as needed
  • Ensure excellent donor experience and improve donation-processing efficiencies
  • Collaborate with Mass Marketing, Fundraising and other MSF Canada departments
  • Oversee campaign implementation and alignment with annual strategy
  • Plan and monitor budgets and results with agencies
  • Ensure vendors understand performance measurements and campaign priorities
  • Deliver training, messaging and campaign updates to agencies
  • Monitor communication and fundraising quality
  • Support RFPs to identify new vendors
  • Conduct regular team check-ins and status meetings
  • Build relationships with non-profit direct marketing and offline-channel contacts
  • Support Mass Marketing and Philanthropy teams with projects and campaigns
  • Monitor fundraising research, trends, innovation and channel development

Requirements

  • Professional experience in offline direct response fundraising (direct mail, face-to-face canvassing, tele-fundraising and/or community giving)
  • Experience managing fundraising agency partnerships
  • Demonstrated progressive experience in people management roles with cross functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to develop team members
  • Understanding and experience in managing large, complex budgets
  • Excellent communications and presentation skills with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office applications
  • Education or training in fundraising, direct marketing or a related field, or a combination of relevant experience and training
  • Proficient in English, with strong copy-editing skills
  • Proficiency in French an asset
  • Must be legally entitled/authorized to work in Canada
