About the role

  • IP Network Engineer designing and optimizing Cisco IP/MPLS transport networks for ELITS Canada. Supporting LTE, 5G, RAN backhaul, commissioning, upgrades, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Plan end-to-end IP transport and backhaul capacity for wireless and enterprise services
  • Design scalable IP and MPLS transport networks for LTE, 5G, and enterprise services
  • Prepare HLD and LLD documents, engineering designs, Bills of Materials, implementation packages, commissioning guides, configuration templates, and automation scripts
  • Support integration and commissioning of Cisco ASR920, NCS540, and NCS560 platforms
  • Perform implementation, acceptance testing, service activation, software upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure modernization
  • Validate routing, MPLS, QoS, synchronization, Layer 2 and Layer 3 services, and network performance
  • Troubleshoot IP transport, routing, switching, MPLS, QoS, packet loss, latency, alarms, incidents, and outages
  • Complete root cause analysis and post-implementation service validation
  • Collaborate with RAN planning, RF engineering, core engineering, integration, operations, deployment, vendor, and customer teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in telecommunications, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field
  • At least five years of experience in IP and MPLS transport network engineering, including carrier grade network design, integration, troubleshooting, and optimization
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco ASR920, NCS540, NCS560, Cisco IOS XE, and Cisco IOS XR
  • Strong knowledge of IPv4, IPv6, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, VRF, MPLS, L2VPN, and L3VPN
  • Experience supporting mobile transport and RAN backhaul networks, including LTE transport, 5G transport, fronthaul, midhaul, backhaul, and network synchronization using SyncE and PTP based on IEEE 1588v2
  • Experience with end-to-end QoS design, traffic engineering, service assurance, capacity modelling, performance analysis, network optimization, telemetry, monitoring tools, Python scripting, Ansible, and configuration automation
  • Position open to Canadian residents, including persons with a valid work permit in Canada
  • CCNP Service Provider certification is nice to have
  • CCIE Service Provider certification is nice to have
  • CCNP Enterprise certification is nice to have
  • Cisco DevNet Associate or Cisco DevNet Professional certification is nice to have
  • MEF Carrier Ethernet certification is nice to have
  • IP, MPLS, or transport network certification is nice to have
  • Experience supporting Tier 1 mobile transport networks is nice to have
