About the role

  • Tax Planning Specialist supporting Enbridge’s Canadian energy business with complex tax planning, research, and transaction advice. Managing tax risk across reorganizations, acquisitions, divestitures, and cash tax initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Support complex Canadian tax planning, research, and tax controversy management
  • Support corporate structuring, financing, repatriation, and cash tax management initiatives
  • Prepare memorandums and presentations and collaborate across the organization
  • Provide tax advice on transactions while balancing technical requirements with commercial objectives and constraints
  • Identify and implement business process improvements and optimize transaction structures
  • Conduct complex tax research and analysis and deliver strategic insights and ad hoc guidance
  • Monitor legislative and policy changes, assess business impacts, and support proactive tax planning strategies
  • Partner across Tax functions to manage tax risk, support audits, ensure appropriate reporting and disclosure, and foster knowledge sharing and professional development
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on organic growth projects, reorganizations, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and cash tax management

Requirements

  • University degree in Business Administration or a related subject area; an equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience working in a Canadian corporate tax role or relevant experience
  • Chartered Professional Accountant designation or law degree with experience in tax planning
  • Completion of CPA In-Depth tax course
  • Completion of CPA In-Depth Corporate Reorganizations Course and CPA International Tax Course would be an asset
  • Strong technical expertise in Canadian income tax law
  • Proven tax planning, research, and advisory experience
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills related to income tax reporting, financial accounting, and complex business issues
  • Strong communication, judgment, and strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada without employment-based sponsorship now or in the future
  • May be required to undergo security screening, including a criminal records check
