About the role

  • EHS & Facilities Officer supporting EnerSys industrial stored-energy operations. Maintaining safety compliance, training, incident response, and day-to-day facility maintenance in Burnaby.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and facility walkthroughs
  • Support Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) and EOS-aligned EHS programs
  • Coordinate and document safety training for employees and contractors
  • Act as first point of contact for minor incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions
  • Support incident investigations and escalate findings
  • Maintain EHS records and assist with regulatory documentation
  • Support JOSH and YOSHI committees by scheduling meetings, preparing minutes, and following up on action items
  • Monitor emergency response plans, first aid resources, and evacuation drills
  • Oversee day-to-day maintenance and facilities tasks, contractor coordination, minor repairs, and office/lab floor support
  • Identify opportunities for energy efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainable practices
  • Guide managers and employees on safe work practices and job hazard analysis

Requirements

  • Diploma or certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field
  • 2–4 years of experience in EHS, safety coordination, or facilities support, ideally in manufacturing or an industrial environment
  • Familiarity with WorkSafeBC regulations and ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 standards is an asset
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to coach and influence at shop-floor level
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with facility management systems is an asset
  • Hands-on, approachable, and team oriented
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Passion for workplace safety and environmental stewardship
  • Willingness to learn and grow within the EHS & Facilities function
