About the role
- EHS & Facilities Officer supporting EnerSys industrial stored-energy operations. Maintaining safety compliance, training, incident response, and day-to-day facility maintenance in Burnaby.
Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs
- Conduct regular safety inspections and facility walkthroughs
- Support Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) and EOS-aligned EHS programs
- Coordinate and document safety training for employees and contractors
- Act as first point of contact for minor incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions
- Support incident investigations and escalate findings
- Maintain EHS records and assist with regulatory documentation
- Support JOSH and YOSHI committees by scheduling meetings, preparing minutes, and following up on action items
- Monitor emergency response plans, first aid resources, and evacuation drills
- Oversee day-to-day maintenance and facilities tasks, contractor coordination, minor repairs, and office/lab floor support
- Identify opportunities for energy efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainable practices
- Guide managers and employees on safe work practices and job hazard analysis
Requirements
- Diploma or certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field
- 2–4 years of experience in EHS, safety coordination, or facilities support, ideally in manufacturing or an industrial environment
- Familiarity with WorkSafeBC regulations and ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 standards is an asset
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to handle multiple priorities
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to coach and influence at shop-floor level
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with facility management systems is an asset
- Hands-on, approachable, and team oriented
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Passion for workplace safety and environmental stewardship
- Willingness to learn and grow within the EHS & Facilities function
