About the role
- Principal Software Engineer developing C#/.NET embedded controller software for EnerSys power-conversion systems. Securing Linux platforms and delivering industrial energy solutions from concept through production.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support supervisory, monitoring, and control software for power conversion management systems
- Develop reliable, scalable, and cost-effective software solutions from concept through production
- Implement software for system controllers and connected devices
- Secure the system controller application and Linux operating system using cybersecurity, robustness, and reliability best practices
- Use AI platforms to increase efficiency across software development
- Contribute to architectural component development and improvement
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation
- Participate in verification and validation testing
- Improve existing products and processes continuously
- Implement unit tests and assist with test automation
- Work with end users, product managers, and software test engineers to clarify feature behavior
- Troubleshoot and resolve defects
- Estimate effort and complexity for proposed features
- Contribute to department strategic goals and direction
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and high-performance development teams to introduce designs into manufacturing on budget, on schedule, and within cost targets
Requirements
- Bachelor of Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- At least 7 years of relevant industry experience
- Experience with productizing Linux-based industrial/commercial platforms
- Experience using AI platforms for agentic software development
- Experience with AWS and Azure
- Experience with cybersecurity, including IEC 62443, trusted execution environment on i.MX 8M Mini Applications Processors, encryption, security best practices, and private key infrastructure
- Strong object-oriented programming skills in a language such as C#
- Solid engineering experience with embedded microcontrollers
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English
- Ability to collaborate with team and stakeholders to derive solution options
- Strong analysis, problem-solving, design, and troubleshooting skills
- Desired: Experience with Yocto; industrial protocols such as SNMP, Modbus, IEC61850, and CAN-bus; digital control interfaces such as SPI, I2C, and UART; electronics hardware/power systems; power electronics hardware with embedded microcontrollers; power conversion, signal processing, and control algorithms; Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code; multithreading, real-time, or asynchronous programming; Agile/SCRUM and R&D environments; JavaScript (AngularJS) and HTML
