About the role

  • Hydrologist supporting ERM’s sustainability consultancy through water-resource analysis, field investigations, and technical reporting. Contributing to environmental assessments and responsible resource development across Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze hydrologic, water quality, and watershed datasets to support modeling and impact assessments
  • Contribute technical content to reports, environmental assessments, and project documentation
  • Conduct field investigations, including streamflow measurements, water sampling, hydrometric surveys, and instrumentation activities
  • Collaborate with specialists across water resources, aquatic biology, toxicology, and earth sciences
  • Support projects balancing environmental protection with responsible development
  • Complete work in accordance with ERM’s quality, health, safety, and scientific standards
  • Perform hydrologic and water quality data analysis
  • Draft sections of technical reports
  • Conduct water sampling, streamflow measurements, and field surveys
  • Complete data and literature reviews
  • Deliver work within defined scope, budget, and schedule
  • Support environmental impact assessment and monitoring programs
  • Support fieldwork and collection of high-quality environmental data
  • Apply scientific and technical knowledge to hydrology and water resource challenges across projects
  • Maintain ERM’s commitment to health, safety, technical excellence, and client service

Requirements

  • Required M.Sc. in Hydrology, Environmental Science, Water Resources Engineering, Geology, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 0–1 years of hydrology, water quality, watershed analysis, or water resource-related experience
  • Strong academic foundation in surface water hydrology, watershed processes, or hydrogeochemical interactions
  • Ability to work effectively as part of large, multidisciplinary project teams
  • Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills
  • This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship
  • Preferred: experience with water and sediment sampling techniques, streamflow gauging, or hydrometric equipment
  • Preferred: familiarity with water quality or hydrologic modeling tools such as HEC-HMS, SWMM, GoldSim, or PHREEQC
  • Preferred: ability to code or conduct statistical analyses using R or similar tools
  • Preferred: experience with GIS or geological/watershed software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, Geosoft Target, or 3D visualization tools
