About the role

  • Field Archaeologist conducting surveys, reconnaissance, and excavations for ERM’s archaeology and cultural heritage team. Field-based work across Vancouver, Smithers, and Whitehorse.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in field studies including field reconnaissance, field surveys, and excavation for archaeological studies
  • Visually inspect land surfaces for archaeological and historic built resources
  • Comply with corporate Health and Safety requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required
  • Work with ERM’s archaeology and cultural heritage team to complete archaeological field surveys

Requirements

  • A Degree in Anthropology (with a focus in archaeology) or in Archaeology preferred
  • 0-3 years of archaeological survey and impact assessment experience
  • Applicants enrolled in a degree granting university who have completed a field school in archaeology are encouraged to apply
  • Prior archaeological field school experience a plus
  • Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and on varied terrain
  • Working knowledge of archaeological survey and impact assessment protocols
  • Ability to work 2 weeks on, 1 week off rotation
  • Ability to work in the field for extended periods of time
