About the role

  • Vice President establishing centralized procurement for Canada’s largest Canadian-owned data center provider. Optimizing sourcing, contracts, supplier risk, and construction materials delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Establish a centralized procurement function
  • Manage the full procurement lifecycle, including requirements gathering, vendor sourcing and selection, negotiation and contracting, deliverables, and vendor evaluation
  • Create governance and efficiency around spend and timely delivery of materials and equipment for construction and engineering teams
  • Design, implement, and enforce a procurement governance framework with standardized policies, approval matrices, and process controls
  • Evaluate and improve contract management processes
  • Maintain accurate contract records and use spend data analytics to inform sourcing decisions
  • Ensure procured equipment and materials meet technical engineering specifications, safety standards, and local regulatory requirements
  • Develop accurate construction forecasts covering timing and costs with various teams
  • Own end-to-end pricing, terms, and delivery timelines
  • Use Total Cost of Ownership models to evaluate quotes and negotiate contracts
  • Monitor market trends, pricing volatility, and supplier capacity
  • Develop supply chain risk mitigation strategies, including supplier financial vetting, dual-sourcing, and contingency planning
  • Oversee operational maintenance and service contracts throughout their lifecycle
  • Standardize facility services across the portfolio
  • Manage contract renewals and establish KPIs to evaluate vendor performance

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in procurement, negotiation and vendor relationship management
  • Significant experience with infrastructure construction, ideally data centre specifically
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Engineering, Business Administration or a related field considered
  • Demonstrated expertise in large-scale construction projects
  • Deep understanding of supply chain trends, risk management, and regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to think independently and solve problems
  • Collaborative team player; clear and proactive communicator
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Advanced written and verbal skills used to translate complex field data into high-level briefings for executive stakeholders
  • Strong planning, organizational, time management skills and superior attention to detail
  • Proven expertise in negotiating with vendors
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and manage stress
