About the role
- Senior Accountant managing GL, payroll accounting, reconciliations, and close processes for EverCommerce’s global SaaS service-commerce platform. Remote anywhere in Canada.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the general ledger for assigned subsidiaries, ensuring accurate and timely records of financial transactions
- Own payroll and employee-related accounting end to end, including payroll actuals and accruals, bonuses, commissions, severance, 401(k), employee benefits, HSA/FSA, and related reconciliations
- Analyze monthly financial statements and variances against prior periods/prior month and present flux explanations to management
- Prepare work papers and month-end reconciliations for assigned balance sheet and select income statement accounts
- Identify discrepancies and provide potential resolutions
- Collaborate with FP&A, Revenue Operations, Legal, Tax, and other stakeholders
- Assist with intercompany, lease, debt, segment accounting, and M&A transactional accounting processes
- Ensure effectiveness of internal controls over assigned GL areas and collaborate with internal audit on deficiencies
- Ensure compliance with SOX and IPE requirements
- Identify process improvements and lead initiatives to streamline month-end close and general ledger processes
- Report to the Accounting Manager
Requirements
- 3+ years of accounting experience in a similar field
- BS/BA degree in accounting required
- Strong understanding of month-end and year-end close processes of a public company
- Working knowledge of US GAAP standards and understanding internal controls
- Strong diligence, well-organized and solid interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to solve issues and work independently
- Strong accountability for assigned work
- Proficient Excel skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Experience as a Senior Accountant preferred
- Experience in a SaaS GL Accounting role nice to have
- Big 4 or public accounting experience nice to have
- CPA or current CPA candidate nice to have
- Experience with NetSuite, OneStream or another ERP software nice to have
- Must be eligible to work without sponsorship
