About the role

  • Senior Data Analyst modernizing enterprise data capabilities at Export Development Canada. Translating business requirements into data models, mappings, pipelines and Agile delivery artifacts.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between business and technical communities to develop data solutions supporting business needs.
  • Elicit, analyze, communicate, validate and translate data requirements into communications, Agile work items and documentation.
  • Apply advanced data modelling and analysis techniques to build and maintain transformation rules and source-to-target mappings.
  • Examine business rules and data transformation requirements and document new data needs.
  • Contribute to designing new data integration streams and updating existing data pipelines.
  • Understand client requirements and translate them into technical terms and user stories.
  • Collaborate with Agile teams, Business Analysts, Data Architects and Data Engineers on solution approaches.
  • Review and recommend conceptual, logical and physical data models.
  • Research and document data platforms and outputs, including mappings, transformation rules, data cataloguing and data lineage.
  • Analyze system data elements and structures, trace data lineage and support efficient data flow.
  • Analyze, cleanse and enrich data to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Collect, organize, analyze and share complex information; explain technical solutions to non-technical audiences.
  • Lead data-requirements sessions and present complex issues to build consensus.
  • Produce documentation supporting sign-off and technical project members.
  • Participate in sprint reviews, retrospectives, backlog refinement and other sprint activities.

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Commerce, Business or a related field.
  • At least seven years of dedicated Data Analyst experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric.
  • Broad experience across the data lifecycle, including dimensional and relational data modelling, data quality, SQL programming, ETL development, metadata management and master data management.
  • Experience reverse-engineering source-to-target mappings to generate data insights.
  • Ability to produce ETL specifications based on physical data models.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information accurately.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for business and technical audiences.
  • Experience with Azure Data Platform technologies and Databricks.
  • Experience with data modelling technologies such as Erwin.
  • Knowledge of Spark SQL.
  • Programming experience with SQL, R or Python.
  • Strong communication, critical-thinking, time-management, priority-planning and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong relationship-management skills, including facilitating group sessions and demonstrating leadership within a project team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment and adapting to changing business priorities.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is an advantage.
  • Ability to work legally in Canada at the time of application, with preference for Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents.
  • Must meet requisite government security screening requirements.
