Data Steward Advisor leading data architecture, collection, automation, and Power BI reporting for FCM’s national municipal community-canopy program. Improving program monitoring and impact reporting.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage the full GCCC data lifecycle, including collection, validation, cleaning, documentation, storage, analysis, governance, and presentation
Establish and document standards for project data, definitions, sources, usage, and supporting documentation
Develop and manage data collection processes, databases, standardized SOPs, and analysis tools
Lead automated reporting initiatives in collaboration with Information Systems
Design and develop Power BI dashboards and visual representations of program results
Integrate GCCC reporting into existing GMF systems and dashboards and import data collection tools into the FCM portal
Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of program data and funded initiatives
Lead data architecture, data integration, data flow, data integrity, and results presentation
Identify and implement data-management best practices and continuous-improvement processes
Advise coordinators, managers, and teams on data collection, management, visualization, and reporting methodologies
Coordinate external consultants, including terms of reference, deliverable oversight, and quality assurance
Ensure compliance with reporting schedules, contribution agreements, data privacy obligations, and data-sharing agreements
Provide high-level advice and support to the Manager, Impact and Performance
Requirements
Post-secondary education in a related field such as public or business administration, economics, data science, or project management
Strong knowledge of business support processes and tools
Advanced data manipulation and visualization skills using Microsoft Excel and Power BI
Experience with MS Office, including Microsoft PowerPoint
Experience with customer-relationship management software and database management
Experience conducting data collection for urban forestry initiatives
Experience implementing urban forestry tools, including the i-Tree suite
Experience launching programs and establishing new data collection systems
Proven experience as a Data Architect, Reporting Architect, or similar role
Strong understanding of data modeling, data integration, data warehousing, machine learning, and reporting concepts
Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
Familiarity with Spark or other distributed computing frameworks
Proficiency with SQL, Python, TextBlob, scikit-learn, and DAX
Experience with storytelling and visualization using Excel, Power BI, Microsoft CRM, and other tools
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent research and project coordination skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills and experience documenting processes
Exceptional organization, initiative, judgment, adaptability, and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
Must live within 80 km of downtown Ottawa, unless otherwise specified
Must be authorized to work in Canada
