About the role

  • Backend Engineer building scalable Go and Node.js APIs for Fingerprint’s real-time online-fraud detection platform. Optimizing distributed systems and mentoring developers in a fully remote global team.

Responsibilities

  • Build highly performant backend systems and infrastructure for large-scale real-time data processing
  • Design, develop, and optimize backend systems for real-time data processing and web services
  • Integrate backend components with other services to ensure performance and scalability
  • Take ownership of features from concept through final deployment
  • Investigate problematic features through deep dives, research, hypothesis development, experiments, and root-cause analysis
  • Conduct performance tuning, debugging, and testing to ensure reliability and efficiency
  • Share engineering best practices and collaborate on cross-functional projects
  • Participate in a shared on-call rotation
  • Mentor junior developers and support team growth

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in backend development
  • Strong, demonstrated experience in GoLang and/or Node.js with willingness to learn
  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems
  • Experience building and optimizing APIs, real-time data processing systems, and microservices architectures
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with DynamoDB, Redis, or Elasticsearch
  • Proficiency with Git, IDEs, shell scripting, and CI/CD
  • Proficient in English for clear communication in a global, remote team
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as a team member
  • Must be authorized to work from their home location
  • Nice to have: BS/MS in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Nice to have: Terraform or AWS CloudFormation
  • Nice to have: TypeScript, Express, ClickHouse, dbt, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks, Datadog, Docker, Kubernetes, large open-source projects, Internet security and privacy mechanisms
  • Nice to have: Demonstrated experience with both Node.js and Go in a backend context
