About the role

  • Join Ford of Canada's EVDD team as an Embedded Software Developer. Focus on automotive software development, working with cross-functional teams in Agile.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, test, and support new software features and capabilities dedicated to vehicle-cloud connectivity
  • Investigate, debug, and resolve complex software bugs and system issues to ensure high reliability and performance
  • Actively participate in peer reviews, evaluating the software designs and code changes of other team members to maintain high standards of quality, security, and maintainability
  • Research, investigate, and develop Proof of Concepts (PoCs) for new connectivity features or potential performance and architectural improvements for existing software
  • Work collaboratively within a cross-functional Agile team of software developers, testers, and product owners

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field of study
  • 5+ years C/C++ software development experience
  • Proven experience with multi-threaded embedded system design and Real-Time OS (RTOS) concepts
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as C and C++ for embedded systems
  • Experience working with embedded operating systems (e.g., RTOS, Embedded Linux, QNX)
  • Familiarity with networking and communication protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, MQTT, gRPC, HTTP, CAN, LIN, or Ethernet)
  • Experience working within an Agile/Scrum software development lifecycle
  • Proficiency with version control systems (specifically Git)
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field of study (even better)
  • Experience with automotive software standards (e.g., AUTOSAR, ISO 26262 functional safety)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and IoT frameworks (even better)
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles in embedded or automotive systems (even better)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and a collaborative mindset to work effectively across diverse teams (even better)
  • Familiarity with debugging tools, oscilloscopes, or logic analyzers (even better)
