About the role

  • Director leading government relations, public funding and fundraising partnerships for Futurpreneur Canada, a nonprofit supporting young entrepreneurs. Managing stakeholder strategy, revenue development and a high-performing Partnerships team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multi-year government relations and public funding strategies across federal and provincial levels.
  • Cultivate relationships with elected officials, political staff, public servants, public-sector partners, corporate partners, foundations and major donors.
  • Identify funding and policy opportunities and establish engagement objectives and relationship plans.
  • Oversee proposals, grant applications, funding cases, presentations, impact reports and government-facing communications.
  • Position Futurpreneur as a trusted government partner advancing inclusive economic development for young entrepreneurs.
  • Secure opportunities for Futurpreneur and its leaders to participate in consultations, working groups, roundtables, panels and policy forums.
  • Advise the CEO, Senior Leadership Team and Board on government priorities, budgets, policy and political developments.
  • Maintain stakeholder maps, engagement records, funding pipelines and performance measures.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and provincial lobbying registry requirements.
  • Provide direction for international partnerships with YBI, GEN and G20 YEA, including Global Entrepreneurship Week activities.
  • Develop and execute fundraising plans for corporate, foundation and major gift support.
  • Track funding strategies, campaigns, relationship pipelines and fundraising performance.
  • Lead, coach and manage the Partnerships team and participate in Futurpreneur’s Leadership Team.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience may include education focused on business management, economics, public policy, public administration or political science, or equivalent hands-on career experience.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in government relations, public funding, fundraising, prospect development, corporate partnerships, major gifts or relevant relationship-based revenue generation, with strength in government relations and fundraising.
  • Extensive knowledge of government at all levels, including policy, funding priorities, budgets and public-sector decision-making.
  • Ability to translate public policy, economic development and entrepreneurship priorities into compelling funding cases, briefing materials and relationship strategies.
  • Experience in pipeline management, proposal development, partner stewardship and funder reporting.
  • Superb written and communication skills in English.
  • Bilingual French/English preferred.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple urgent priorities.
  • Strong negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills, with discretion, tact and diplomacy.
  • Experience leading and managing a high-performing team.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
