About the role
- L3 IT Technician supporting Microsoft, Azure, networking, virtualization, backup, and security infrastructure. Helping Genius Solutions deliver ERP software for small and medium-sized manufacturers.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day L3 technical support and complete delegated tasks from the Network Administrator
- Serve as the bridge between the Network Administrator and L1/L2 IT Technicians, relaying direction, priorities, and technical guidance
- Administer Microsoft 365 workloads, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and Intune
- Manage Microsoft Azure infrastructure tasks, including Entra ID, virtual machines, networking, and backup/disaster recovery
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN networks, switches, routers, FortiGate firewalls, VPNs, and Wi-Fi
- Manage virtualization and backup infrastructure, including Nutanix, Proxmox, VMWare, and Veeam
- Implement and monitor IT security best practices, including endpoint protection, MFA, patch management, and vulnerability remediation
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis on complex issues escalated from L1/L2 technicians
- Use AI tools such as Claude for troubleshooting, documentation, and routine-task automation
- Travel to the office as needed for emergencies, scheduled maintenance, and operational requirements
- Participate in an on-call/after-hours rotation based on business needs
- Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, and procedures
Requirements
- 5+ years of IT support experience with demonstrated L3 escalation experience
- Knowledge of system internals, code, infrastructure, networks, or product architecture, with ability to diagnose novel or intermittent problems without existing runbooks
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365
- Solid experience with Microsoft Azure, including Entra ID, virtual machines, networking, and security
- Strong networking knowledge: TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, firewalls, and VPNs
- Experience with FortiGate is an asset
- Experience with Nutanix, Proxmox, VMWare, and Veeam
- Solid understanding of IT security principles and best practices
- Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Basic PowerShell programming/scripting skills are an asset
- Comfortable using AI tools such as Claude for troubleshooting, automation, and documentation
- Strong communication skills
- Relevant certifications are an asset, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Security+, or CCNA
- Bilingual French/English is an asset
- Must reside in the Quebec City area and be able to travel to the office on short notice
- A valid driver’s license may be required
