About the role

  • BIM Manager leading regional BIM strategy, standards, tools, and training for GHD, a global engineering and environmental consultancy. Supervising coordinators and supporting multidisciplinary project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the BIM strategy across the assigned region
  • Support, train and promote consistent application of the Americas BIM Execution Plan methodology
  • Establish processes, model development levels, authoring tools, data exchange formats and digital delivery requirements
  • Ensure regional BIM strategy is implemented consistently and effectively
  • Contribute to development and standardisation of design tools and project-delivery workflows
  • Supervise Project BIM Coordinators and assigned project teams
  • Support proposals on BIM scope, methodology and budget; contribute to discipline BoE and/or BoD
  • Determine appropriate BIM technologies to capture productivity gains
  • Function as Project BIM Manager and/or Project BIM Coordinator as required
  • Collaborate with BIM leadership, software managers, service line leaders and digital transformation teams
  • Provide and facilitate BIM training for managers, coordinators, design teams and project leaders
  • Raise regional awareness of digital delivery tools, BIM processes and deliverables
  • Support global, regional and geographically specific BIM practice advancement
  • Identify opportunities for geographic work sharing and collaboration
  • Participate in regional strategic planning regarding technology, standards and BIM processes
  • Communicate standards, developments, strategic efforts, software and workflow updates
  • Elevate concerns and resistance to change to leadership and advocate DDO initiatives
  • Deliver lunch-and-learn sessions on technical tools, procedures, workflows and standards
  • Assist with GHD/DDO BIM initiatives for project delivery, standards, workflows and procedures
  • Perform delegated assignments and present research-supported improvement or innovation ideas

Requirements

  • Minimum 7–10 years’ experience working within BIM with managerial project experience
  • Experience leading multi-discipline projects and teams
  • Experience managing Common Data Environments
  • Appropriate BIM certification; affiliations/certifications vary across regions
  • Strong expertise in BIM modelling, project information management, and team leadership
  • Understanding of ISO 19650, parts 1, 2, 3 and 5
  • Understanding of LOD framework and LOD Matrix, BIM Forum criteria/guidelines, and LOI
  • Understanding of Project Information Model strategy
  • Understanding of BIM digital dimensions, including 3D, 4D and 5D
  • Understanding of BIM Uses and benefits
  • Understanding of Common Data Environment and Information Management
  • Understanding of software and application interoperability
  • Understanding of model checking, drawing checking and QA processes
  • Experience developing BIM Execution Plans, Task Information Delivery Plans and Master Information Delivery Plans
  • Design management, design coordination, technical understanding and troubleshooting abilities
  • Understanding of asset management integration with a BIM environment
  • Excellent technical writing, presentation, communication, interpersonal, listening, collaboration, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Ability to work without supervision and be proactive
  • Proven team leadership, knowledge transfer, on-the-job training and mentoring skills
  • Project management skills and strategic and innovative thinking
  • Ability to understand and interpret BIM requirements in project contracts
  • Understanding of GHD Winning Work and Project Delivery systems
  • Ability to manage peak work periods and delegate tasks
