About the role

  • Senior Civil Designer developing civil and water infrastructure designs for GHD’s environmental engineering consultancy. Leading 3D modelling, technical coordination, project delivery, and junior technician mentoring.

Responsibilities

  • Produce conceptual and detailed design drawings for civil and water infrastructure projects, including utilities, site grading, site servicing, road and rail corridors, and transit facilities
  • Develop and oversee design work within an integrated 3D environment
  • Ensure deliverables meet company and industry quality standards
  • Apply technical expertise and problem-solving skills to complex multidisciplinary projects
  • Act as technical lead for assigned project scopes
  • Coordinate with internal teams, subconsultants, clients, and external agencies
  • Develop and maintain 3D models, including design development, drafting, redlining, annotation, and drawing production
  • Complete water, sanitary, stormwater, roadway, and geometric design assignments, including alignments, profiles, corridor modelling, and cross-section development
  • Utilize Civil 3D corridor and pipe network modules, AutoTURN, and related design software
  • Assist with proposals, specifications, cost estimates, technical reports, and tender documents
  • Coordinate project delivery within established schedules and budgets
  • Mentor and support junior technicians on Civil 3D, BIM standards, technical development, and best practices

Requirements

  • 10+ years of civil design and modelling experience
  • Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer/Technologist registered or eligible for registration in Alberta and/or British Columbia
  • Proven record of site grading, site servicing, drainage and access road design using civil 3D software, including preparation of plans, sections, profiles and detail drawings (Mandatory)
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to interact effectively within all levels of the organization in a collaborative fashion
  • Experience managing multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail in a demanding consulting environment
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate work to meet deadlines while complying with procedures and best practices
  • Experience with Construction Administration & Inspection considered an asset
  • Interest or experience with BIM platforms, design programming, visualizations, and automation considered an asset
