Responsibilities
Develop proposals for selecting exploration well locations and oversee geological/geophysical modeling and data interpretation
Lead the design, documentation, and reporting for geotechnical projects
Provide technical leadership for planning, field investigations, feasibility studies, and detailed design
Define and lead geotechnical investigations and laboratory testing programs
Lead technical development, research and development projects, technical papers, and participation in technical events and conferences
Manage key aspects of the data management system
Manage a project portfolio and report to more senior colleagues
Support GHD’s and its clients’ geotechnical risk management strategies
Collect and analyze data from various sources
Guide large-scale exploration planning and participate in dam safety inspections and risk assessments
Lead teams in preparing peer-reviewed publications and presentations
Develop policies, processes, best practices, case studies, and knowledge-sharing sessions
Manage and develop relationships with clients and internal stakeholders in Canada and internationally
Requirements
Degree in engineering (civil or geotechnical); relevant graduate degrees preferred
More than 20 years of experience in geotechnical engineering related to geotechnical design, dams, tailings storage facilities, foundation design, seismic engineering, and geostructural design, ideally in a consulting environment
Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
Established industry profile through participation in professional and academic associations and publication of scientific papers
Detailed knowledge of the design of earthfill, tailings, and concrete dams, as well as other major structures
Bilingual in English and French
Ability to build a team and provide mentorship to junior staff
Strong knowledge of relevant Canadian and international standards, industry guidelines, and current industry practices
Hold an ASP Construction card
Hold a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle
