About the role

Responsibilities
- Participate in the full application lifecycle, with a focus on developing new features and creating value for users
- Develop, test, integrate, and deploy backend solutions and APIs
- Maintain GHGSat’s web services and ensure their high availability for internal and external users
- Collaborate with developers, designers, Quality Assurance (QA), and Product Owners to design and develop new features
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Demonstrated experience designing and deploying scalable web applications that deliver tangible value to users
- Strong experience with Python
- Experience designing and deploying cloud services on AWS
- Experience deploying containerized applications with Docker and/or Kubernetes
- Experience with databases and ETL systems, particularly PostgreSQL
- Proficiency in Test-Driven Development (TDD), CI/CD pipelines, and technical documentation
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- Comply with the requirements of Canada’s Controlled Goods Program (CGP)
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Experience with Django or FastAPI is an asset
- Experience with pandas, SQLAlchemy, or dbt is an asset
- Experience with Argo in a Kubernetes environment is an asset
- Comfortable working in a Linux environment is an asset
- Ability to obtain Government of Canada security clearance
- Interest in remote sensing technologies and the space sector is an asset
