About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead accounting activities and financial reporting for the various business units
  • Develop the team’s skills, autonomy, and accountability
  • Establish and enforce common group accounting standards
  • Oversee the quality and delivery of consolidated financial statements
  • Manage and improve the monthly close in a multi-entity environment
  • Review financial statements, analyses, and reports, and analyze results to identify variances and anomalies
  • Evolve consolidation and reporting processes as the organization grows and integrates new entities
  • Own accounting policies and the internal control framework
  • Standardize, document, and improve accounting processes
  • Identify risks and opportunities for improvement and ensure they are addressed
  • Define accounting requirements for financial systems and participate in implementation, automation, and centralization projects
  • Lead the annual financial audit and serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors
  • Coordinate financial and tax compliance engagements
  • Advise the VP of Finance and provide reliable financial information to management
  • Collaborate with business unit leaders to resolve financial issues and improve practices
  • Contribute to the financial integration of acquisitions and structure the accounting function for international business units

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA designation is an asset
  • Approximately 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in accounting, auditing, or financial reporting
  • Experience in public accounting or financial audit
  • Experience consolidating financial statements in a multi-entity environment
  • Bilingual proficiency
  • Experience in a manufacturing or multi-unit environment is an asset
  • Strong ability to build relationships and exert positive influence
  • Leadership focused on people development, accountability, and autonomy
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • High level of rigor and a strong commitment to the quality of financial information
  • Ability to quickly understand complex accounting issues and propose solutions
  • Genuine interest in growing within an organization undergoing growth and transformation
