Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a team of engineers delivering pipeline integrity-related services.
Provide direction, training, and technical guidance to develop team skills and maintain high performance.
Oversee staff resourcing with project managers and allocate resources based on skills, workload, and technical abilities.
Enforce Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality (SHEQ) protocols and foster a strong safety culture.
Provide expert technical input on leads, opportunities, and projects.
Review and approve proposals and project reports for accuracy and completeness.
Drive continuous improvement in project efficiency and delivery.
Align with department leadership on broader strategic goals.
Identify opportunities to improve and grow pipeline integrity services.
Set annual Key Performance Indicators with department leadership and ensure successful delivery.
Ensure office operations follow company policies, safety expectations, financial controls, and administrative procedures.
Maintain a visible leadership presence in the Calgary office to support engagement and local operations.
Oversee operations of the DNV Calgary office.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in the pipeline integrity industry, with strong industry recognition and credibility.
Demonstrated ability to develop business with customers in the pipeline integrity industry.
Demonstrated team leadership or supervisory experience in a technical environment, with strong mentorship and people-management abilities.
In-depth knowledge of the pipeline integrity industry, client management, and business development.
Excellent organizational and management skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Proven ability to prioritize tasks and maintain attention to detail while meeting deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective team coordination, report writing, and stakeholder communication.
Commitment to upholding the highest safety and quality standards and following all safety protocols and quality procedures.
Willingness and ability to occasionally travel up to approximately 25% for meetings, training, or off-site project support.
Pre-employment drug and background screening.
Preferred: experience managing staff, including P&L responsibility, financial planning, and resource allocation.
Preferred: experience leading multidisciplinary project teams.
Preferred: extensive knowledge of pipeline integrity regulations, industry standards, recommended practices, codes, compliance, and integrity management programs.
Preferred: AI and digital fluency, including critically evaluating AI outputs, responsible AI adoption, governance frameworks, and coaching direct reports.
