About the role
- Senior Software Engineer modernizing ComPsych’s AI-powered mental health and absence-management platforms. Directing system design, testing, reliability, and agentic development across full software lifecycles.
Responsibilities
- Own problem framing, sequencing, tradeoffs, and system design with Product and Design
- Define data models, API contracts, and failure modes
- Decompose work and write specifications for AI agents to implement
- Debug or address complex implementation work directly when needed
- Define testing coverage and levels, direct AI-generated tests, and validate test quality
- Build security, reliability, and observability into systems from the beginning
- Review all implementation rigorously regardless of authorship
- Make deployment decisions and respond to on-call incidents
- Apply incident learnings to production systems
- Coach engineers on specifying, delegating, and validating work with AI
- Contribute to the full software lifecycle from planning and design through code, testing, review, and production
Requirements
- Deep server-side experience in a modern language such as Java, Python, C#, Kotlin, or Go
- Must have 5+ years of full stack development experience
- Experience with REST contracts, versioning, OAuth2/OIDC, schema design, and SQL
- Production experience with asynchronous and event-driven systems, including Kafka or comparable technologies and idempotency
- Experience building and operating production systems at scale on AWS or Azure
- Experience with containers, Kubernetes or serverless, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD pipelines
- Production on-call experience
- Ability to define and defend unit, integration, and contract testing strategies
- Accountability for reliability and security, including SLOs, incident leadership, OWASP, and threat modeling
- PHI/HIPAA or comparable regulated-data experience
- Production experience using agentic AI as a primary development surface
- Bonus: LLM application engineering, including RAG, retrieval quality, evals, and LLM observability
- Bonus: Modern TypeScript frontend work against a design system
