About the role

  • Staff Accountant managing full-cycle accounting for Neon One, a nonprofit software company. Preparing closes, reconciliations, statements, audits, and process improvements remotely across the US and Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Own full cycle accounting responsibilities, from transaction entry through financial statement preparation
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations during the monthly close process
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank accounts, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
  • Support preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Analyze account variances and research discrepancies
  • Assist with audit preparation by gathering documentation and responding to auditor requests
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
  • Maintain organized, accurate records for financial reporting and audit trails
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and increase efficiency
  • Collaborate with FP&A, Billing, HR, and other cross-functional teams
  • Report directly to the Assistant Controller

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience with exposure to full cycle accounting
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting
  • Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and formulas
  • Strong analytical skills to identify trends, variances, and discrepancies
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and work independently as a self-starter in a remote environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with NetSuite, Salesforce, and Ramp is a plus
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada or the United States
