About the role

  • EAL Teacher responsible for teaching virtual EAL classes and providing tutoring at Nova Scotia International Student Program. Developing lesson plans to improve students' English skills in grades 7-12.

Responsibilities

  • The EAL Teacher is responsible for teaching virtual EAL classes, and providing tutoring to NSISP students with low level English in grades 7-12.
  • The EAL teacher will be expected to develop and implement lesson plans that support students with improving their English reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.

Requirements

  • Valid Teaching Certificate recognized by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development OR EAL teaching qualifications that are recognized by TESL Canada.
  • Previous experience teaching EAL in Canada or abroad.
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills, and demonstrated excellence in teaching.
  • Experience with virtual EAL instruction and use of Google Classroom is considered an asset.
