About the role

  • Quality Assurance Technician supporting Hydro Tech’s hydro-electric projects and quality management system. Performing dimensional inspections, QA/QC testing, documentation, and quality control in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, development, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of Hydro Tech’s Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Support hydro-electric projects, including generator and turbine overhauls and intake/spill gate work
  • Supervise trades people during routine inspections, maintenance, and testing of equipment
  • Facilitate tests, measurements, and inspections required for the QA/QC program
  • Operate FARO Laser Tracker and associated software to perform dimensional inspections
  • Analyze data and create detailed, informative reports
  • Prepare and revise QA/QC documents, procedures, and work instructions
  • Maintain QA/QC records to internal and client standards
  • Disposition and control nonconformance reports and corrective action plans
  • Liaise with external parties on quality management system matters
  • Analyze customer requirements during the bid process for QA/QC requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience operating FARO Laser Tracker and associated software
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology/Technician
  • Prior inspection, machining, or dimensional measurement experience is an asset
  • Red Seal Trade designation is an asset
  • Knowledge of hydro-electric turbines and/or generators
  • Proficiency with common inspection tools, including vernier calipers, micrometers, and gauges
  • Experience with automated and advanced measurement methods, including 3D cameras and high-precision laser equipment
  • Basic working knowledge of ISO 9001, CWB, ASME, or similar quality standards is an asset
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, mechanical plans, and technical documentation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project
  • Must have a Class G driver’s license
  • Excellent communication and computer skills
  • Physically able to remain on feet all day and climb ladders/scaffolding
  • Must be willing and able to travel internationally
