About the role

  • Private markets operations analyst supporting iA Financial Group’s investment management business. Managing private placement transactions, reporting controls, custodians, and fund administrators.

Responsibilities

  • Perform post-trade activities and life cycle events related to private placements, fund units, and other illiquid assets, including subscriptions, capital calls, interests, settlements, and cash operations
  • Collaborate with investment operations team members to solve complex problems
  • Coordinate operational stages of private placement acquisitions among trading desks, portfolio managers, external lawyers, trustees, borrowers, and the private placement team
  • Support internal private placement managers through requests and follow-ups
  • Maintain data quality in systems
  • Answer custodian questions regarding daily operations
  • Review priorities and ensure operational deadlines are met
  • Participate in implementing standardized monitoring processes and controls
  • Optimize and scale oversight and reporting processes and tools
  • Interpret fund-level legal terms, definitions, and entity structures
  • Implement best practices, policies, procedures, controls, and reporting improvements
  • Monitor regulatory changes and industry standards affecting client reporting
  • Liaise with teams on financial reporting, accounting policies, and financial reporting impacts
  • Liaise with and manage third-party service providers and fund administrators

Requirements

  • 2 to 5+ years of experience in investment operations or accounting
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or accounting
  • Experience with private placement and fund unit transaction operations
  • Solid understanding of private markets, market practices, and applicable regulations
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to interpret financial data and financial statements
  • Strong understanding of financial markets and/or wealth management
  • Solid knowledge of investment products and financial concepts
  • Proficiency in French
  • Advanced level of English
  • Ability to communicate daily with internal and external stakeholders across Canada
