About the role

  • Part-time Intermediate Accountant managing bookkeeping, payroll, reporting, and reconciliations. Supporting Ideal Siding’s growing North American siding-franchise network under the Director of Finance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle bookkeeping and accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance
  • Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, payment application, account reconciliations, aging reviews, collections, and follow-up on outstanding balances
  • Prepare GST returns for review and support other tax and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Process and review payroll, including payroll reconciliations, vacation pay, employee changes, and related payroll reporting
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules for multiple entities and franchise locations
  • Perform financial statement analysis, identify trends and variances, and highlight items requiring management attention
  • Support the Director of Finance with month-end and year-end close, including reconciliations, accruals, adjusting entries, and working papers
  • Assist with budgeting, expense monitoring, and variance analysis
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and internal controls
  • Prepare reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation for year-end reviews and audits
  • Identify opportunities to improve and automate accounting processes, reporting, and financial workflows
  • Work under the direct supervision of the Director of Finance
  • Support franchisees across Canada and the U.S.

Requirements

  • University degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance
  • 3–6 years of progressive accounting experience
  • CPA designation, currently pursuing a CPA designation, or equivalent accounting qualification is considered an asset
  • Strong practical experience with accounts receivable, GST, payroll, reconciliations, and month-end close
  • Experience preparing financial statements and management reports, with the ability to analyze results and identify unusual balances, trends, and variances
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and hands-on experience with accounting software; QuickBooks Online experience is an asset
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate and well-supported financial records
  • Organized and able to manage multiple entities, deadlines, and competing priorities
  • Proactive and comfortable taking ownership of assigned responsibilities while knowing when to escalate issues
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing, entrepreneurial environment
  • Available to work part-time, with flexibility to work additional hours during the busy season from January through April, and the potential for the position to transition to full-time
  • Located in the Metro Vancouver area and able and willing to commute
  • Authorization to work in Canada on an ongoing basis for part-time employment
