Data Scientist intern developing AI and machine-learning solutions for Intact’s insurance technology teams. Analyzing geospatial, telematics, text, and image data for business impact.
Responsibilities
Translate complex, multi-source datasets into clear, business-ready insights, recommendations, and measurable impact
Build production-quality analytical and ML code using Python/R, modern libraries, testing, version control, and reproducibility practices
Contribute to applied research and development advancing AI-enabled products
Prototype, experiment with, and validate approaches solving real business problems
Explore and evaluate methods including deep learning, NLP, computer vision, and geospatial analytics
Translate promising AI methods into practical solutions
Work with geomatics/geospatial, telematics/time-series, text, and image data
Link data patterns to operational and strategic business decisions
Communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders through concise narratives, visualizations, and documented deliverables
Support product and business roadmaps
Requirements
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in artificial intelligence, data science, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field
Available to work full-time, 35 hours per week, during the Winter 2027 Term from January to April
Must be an active student during the internship and/or returning to school in Summer or Fall 2027
For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required to interact regularly with English-speaking colleagues across Canada
Must be eligible to work in Canada
At least one previous internship in data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or deep learning is an asset
