About the role

  • Data Scientist intern developing AI and machine-learning solutions for Intact’s insurance technology teams. Analyzing geospatial, telematics, text, and image data for business impact.

Responsibilities

  • Translate complex, multi-source datasets into clear, business-ready insights, recommendations, and measurable impact
  • Build production-quality analytical and ML code using Python/R, modern libraries, testing, version control, and reproducibility practices
  • Contribute to applied research and development advancing AI-enabled products
  • Prototype, experiment with, and validate approaches solving real business problems
  • Explore and evaluate methods including deep learning, NLP, computer vision, and geospatial analytics
  • Translate promising AI methods into practical solutions
  • Work with geomatics/geospatial, telematics/time-series, text, and image data
  • Link data patterns to operational and strategic business decisions
  • Communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders through concise narratives, visualizations, and documented deliverables
  • Support product and business roadmaps

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in artificial intelligence, data science, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field
  • Available to work full-time, 35 hours per week, during the Winter 2027 Term from January to April
  • Must be an active student during the internship and/or returning to school in Summer or Fall 2027
  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required to interact regularly with English-speaking colleagues across Canada
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
  • At least one previous internship in data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or deep learning is an asset
  • Adaptability, curiosity, and commitment to continuous learning
  • Excellent communication skills with a self-reliant and high-ownership mindset
