About the role

  • Politics Market Curation Editor reviewing and refining political prediction markets for Meridial’s beta social-predictions app. Applying election expertise to ensure precise, authoritative settlement.

Responsibilities

  • Review a daily queue of system-generated political markets against a fixed completion deadline.
  • Assess candidate markets for factual accuracy, clarity, authoritative resolution sources, and defined settlement dates.
  • Verify open and close timing, including delays involving runoffs, recounts, and certification.
  • Apply settlement conventions for election calls, concessions, recounts, certification, runoff triggers, ballot measures, legislative vote counts, and official corrections.
  • Confirm policy fit against community standards and content guidelines, escalating ambiguous or sensitive cases.
  • Approve, edit, or reject candidates and record structured reasons.
  • Rewrite questions and resolution language for precision.
  • Author timestamped clarifications and resolve settlement exceptions involving contested results, recounts, and litigation.
  • Monitor live markets, campaign schedules, polling releases, and political and press social media for errors and uncaptured events.
  • Participate in weekly calibration reviews.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in political trading or prediction markets, political data operations, political/data journalism or editorial, polling and election modeling, or a comparable role requiring current subject-matter expertise.
  • Demonstrable current fluency in U.S. politics and elections across federal, state, and major local races.
  • Fluency with political media and political social media.
  • Working knowledge of official election administration and settlement conventions, including certification timelines, recount thresholds, runoff triggers, Electoral College mechanics where relevant, and authoritative sources for results and vote counts.
  • Proven judgment on contested results, recounts, litigation, ballot curing, and ambiguous or delayed official calls.
  • Ability to interpret official sources quickly and reach a defensible determination.
  • Exceptional written precision under deadline; ability to write unambiguous rules.
  • Comfort applying a written policy framework and escalating politically sensitive or contested topics rather than guessing.
  • Flexible availability for evening and weekend work around debates, primaries, and election nights.
