About the role

  • Quality Assurance Technician conducting HACCP and CFIA food-safety checks for JBS Canada's seafood facility in Belleville. Evaluating products, monitoring production, and training staff on quality requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct food safety and quality critical control point checks according to HACCP and Quality Program requirements
  • Complete analysis of tests and report results and recommendations
  • Work with production staff on testing protocols and requirements to meet CFIA quality and safety requirements
  • Ensure the QA Manager and production management are aware of deviations from product specifications or reporting requirements
  • Perform pre-operational inspections on operating equipment before each shift
  • Monitor production staff's adherence to production specifications
  • Assist in evaluating new equipment and process instructions
  • Evaluate raw and finished material for compliance with product specifications
  • Recommend product holds and disposition alternatives when needed, and inform appropriate management
  • Participate in employee training on QA requirements and CFIA/JBS Canada HACCP and food safety regulations
  • Complete related QA duties and testing as needed
  • Maintain a professional and respectful approach with internal and external contacts and facilitate a team atmosphere
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline such as animal/food science, biology, microbiology, chemistry/biochemistry
  • 3–5 years of QA or related experience within the meat, seafood, or food processing sector
  • Thorough knowledge of CFIA requirements and JBS Canada's HACCP and Food Quality programs
  • Ability to work in a team setting or independently with minimum supervision
  • Good analytical and logical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate technical food safety requirements to production staff, supervisors, and management
  • Ability to work in a cold/refrigerated work site environment
