About the role

  • Software Developer II building and testing software for JD Power, a provider of automotive data, analytics, and industry intelligence. Collaborating with stakeholders and platform teams across the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle through analysis, design, implementation, verification, and maintenance of software solutions
  • Collaborate with Business Unit stakeholders to review requirements and validate designs
  • Create work estimates and develop software
  • Verify product releases
  • Collaborate with the Software Development Team Lead to implement best practices across the Software Development Lifecycle
  • Design and code software applications based on business and technical specifications
  • Develop and execute unit, component, and integration tests
  • Adhere to coding standards and test coverage targets
  • Perform code reviews, identify defects, and recommend improvements
  • Contribute to technical and end-user documentation
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues for assigned projects

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • 2+ years of software development experience with Java or .NET
  • Experience with application servers and web servers such as Apache HTTP Server or NGINX
  • Experience with version control systems such as GitLab
  • Experience with build and continuous integration tools such as Maven, Jenkins, or GitLab CI/CD
  • Experience with relational and non-relational database design and development
  • Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code
  • Ability to judge when to accept, edit, or reject AI-generated output
  • Ability to provide effective context, including codebase conventions, requirements, and constraints
  • Experience using AI to accelerate test authoring, documentation, and routine refactoring
  • Awareness of AI tool limitations, hallucinated APIs, outdated patterns, security pitfalls, and the need for human verification before merge
  • Familiarity with secure coding practices and OWASP Top 10 preferred
  • Experience building software in Agentic fashion preferred
  • Self-motivated, self-directed, and detail-oriented
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable collaborating with technical and business stakeholders
