About the role

  • Purchasing Specialist managing procurement, inventory, suppliers, and manufacturing supply chain operations. Supporting JELD-WEN’s doors, windows, and building products business.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, plan, schedule and execute procurement order requirements based on various data sources
  • Oversee inventory management, including cycle counting, analysis, reconciliation, stocking strategies, and excess and obsolescence review and reporting
  • Coordinate deliveries, expedite orders, and manage past-due purchase orders and back orders with suppliers
  • Reconcile supplier invoicing discrepancies and maintain product cost, part number and vendor-related data
  • Communicate with stakeholders in Supply Chain Management, Production, Customer Service, Quality Assurance and Accounts Payable
  • Manage supplier relationships to optimize delivery, pricing, quality and documentation
  • Produce Excel-based reports
  • Build product knowledge and provide category-specific information
  • Drive process improvement using Lean best practices
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures and safety standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 to 10 years of progressive supply chain management experience in a manufacturing or construction services environment
  • Prior supervisory experience will be considered a strong asset
  • Post-secondary degree in operations management, supply chain management or similar
  • CSCP/CPIM/SCMP/PMAC or similar accreditation or current enrollment in a recognized program
  • Demonstrable experience in planning, scheduling, procurement, production control, inventory management, and related supply chain activities
  • Solid ERP/MRP skills, preferably with an SAP background
  • Exposure to Lean Business systems, Six Sigma and similar continuous improvement programs would be considered an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Superior oral and written communication abilities
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong sense of urgency and accountability
  • Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, conditional formatting and macros
  • Hands-on attitude and comfort working in manufacturing and warehousing environments
