About the role

  • Senior BI Engineer building data models, semantic layers, and dashboards for Jobber’s small-business service platform. Driving governed self-service analytics and trusted business metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable, efficient data models and governed semantic layers
  • Translate complex SQL queries into scalable and reusable semantic models
  • Optimize pipeline performance and queries
  • Collaborate with the Analytics team to model key business metrics
  • Create and maintain enterprise reports and dashboards with actionable insights
  • Develop and maintain reliable data transformation and loading pipelines
  • Manage and configure the BI platform, including user access, data governance, performance tuning, and security
  • Champion data literacy, governance, and adoption across the business
  • Support strategic decisions and operational performance monitoring across Marketing, Sales, Customer Growth & Retention, Product, and other functional areas
  • Report to the Manager, Business Intelligence

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in data architecture and dimensional modeling, including star and snowflake schemas
  • Practical experience or strong familiarity implementing semantic layers for self-service analytics
  • Expert-level SQL programming skills
  • Experience building and maintaining data pipelines using DBT
  • Understanding or experience in data governance, metric standardization, data quality enforcement, and access control
  • Advanced proficiency designing and constructing dashboards with Tableau or equivalent data visualization tools
  • Solid understanding of complex relational data structures and modern cloud data platforms such as Snowflake
  • Ability to champion data literacy and drive adoption of governed self-service analytics
  • Proactive problem-solving approach and ability to work independently
  • Strong communication and stakeholder consultation skills
  • Comfort working in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment
  • DBT certifications, Tableau certifications, and Data Engineering certifications are highly desired but not dealbreakers
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Successful completion of a background check, including identity verification
  • Based in Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver, or Kitchener-Waterloo
  • Able to attend the office at least 1 day per week according to the department schedule
