About the role
- AI innovation co-op developer building agentic AI platform capabilities at Kinaxis, a supply-chain orchestration company. Creating tools, prototypes, and production software with experienced engineers.
Responsibilities
- Work as a full-time developer on Kinaxis’s agentic AI platform
- Build new platform capabilities, including tools used by AI agents
- Investigate agent behavior in real-world scenarios and address failures
- Contribute to new product ideas, working prototypes, and demos for the team and executives
- Work with a mentor who provides support and guidance
- Use training and begin contributing within a few weeks
- Scope projects according to the codebase state at the start of the term
- Make visible technical decisions in an early-stage, fast-moving codebase
- Collaborate with experienced software engineers across platform engineering, applied AI, and product development
- Work in a GitHub-native, agentic engineering workflow using AI-assisted development tools
- Document significant technical decisions in writing
- Demo completed work to the team and provide technical opinions
Requirements
- Completed 3rd year of or recently graduated from a program in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Currently enrolled in full-time education or a recent/upcoming graduate within 12 months of the placement end date
- Demonstrated interest in building and shipping software through coursework, a previous work term, a personal project, research, or open-source contributions
- Demonstrated interest in AI agents and how they are built
- Comfortable writing code in Python or a comparable language
- Comfortable with Git and GitHub
- Clear written communication
- Comfortable with ambiguity
- Nice to have: experience building or consuming APIs
- Nice to have: exposure to cloud platforms, containers, or distributed services
- Nice to have: exposure to authentication and identity concepts such as OAuth or OIDC
- Nice to have: familiarity with agentic-driven development and AI-powered coding tools such as Claude Code, ChatGPT Codex, or GitHub Copilot
- Nice to have: experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, feature flags, or progressive delivery
- Nice to have: exposure to LLM applications, RAG, prompt engineering, or agentic frameworks
- Nice to have: experience with logs, traces, or metrics
- Nice to have: front-end, CLI, or developer-tooling experience
- Nice to have: exposure to knowledge graphs, semantic modeling, or ontologies
